Algorithm Activities

Activity 1

On the table below, think about where you see ALGORITHMS in everyday life.

• What INPUT do you have to put in?

• What is the LIST OF INSTRUCTIONS?

• What is the OUTPUT that you get out of the end?

You can use pictures to answer the questions as well as words if you want to.

You can add more rows to your tables if you can think of more than 3 algorithms.

Activity 2 - Writing Algorithms

In this activity, you are going to write algorithms for someone else to follow.

What steps do you need to include to make it really clear and so the other person knows EXACTLY what to do?

Algorithm for moving from the school office to your classroom.

Team Player 1	School Walk down to the red door by the gate  Take 7 steps forward  Turnleft and take 20 steps turn to left and take 12 steps and turn right and take 4	Team  Player 2 Following the instructions  Room 2

When your algorithm does not work and you have to fix it and change it, this is called DEBUGGING.
